2024 campgrounds listed 49 states covered

Camp Trail is an independent campground directory covering the United States. We organize campground details, photos, amenities, and booking links into clean, comparable pages so campers can evaluate their options before they book.

Why we built this

Finding the right campground is harder than it should be. Information is scattered across booking apps, government park sites, review forums, and social media. One place shows availability, another has photos, a third has the actual address. You end up with twenty tabs open and still no clear answer.

We built Camp Trail to bring all of that into one place. The goal is simple: give campers a single page per campground with the details that actually matter — what the site looks like, what amenities are confirmed, where exactly it is, and how to book it.

We are not a booking platform. We are the research step that happens before you book — the part where you figure out which campground fits your trip, your gear, and your group.

Behind the name

Camp Trail reflects what we think good campground research feels like: following a trail. You start with a general idea — a region, a type of camping, a weekend window — and then you narrow it down step by step until you find the right spot.

Every campground page on this site is a stop along that trail. Browse by state, filter by type, compare amenities, check the photos, and when you are ready, follow the booking link. The trail leads to the campsite.

What we do

We maintain a directory of 2,024 campgrounds across 49 US states. Each listing includes:

  • Photos sourced from official channels and verified imagery
  • Confirmed amenities: Wi-Fi, showers, hookups, fire pits, playgrounds, and more
  • Location context with nearby landmarks and trail access
  • Direct links to the campground website and booking platforms
  • Ratings and review summaries where available

Alongside the directory, our editorial team publishes destination guides, camping tips, and trip planning articles in the Journal section.

Our editorial approach

Every campground page on this site is built from verified data. We cross-reference amenity lists, check photo sources, and confirm addresses before publishing. When information changes, we update the listing.

Our journal articles are written for specific camping scenarios. Instead of generic roundups, we focus on practical questions: where to camp near a particular national park, what to look for in a family campground, or how to pick a site when you have never camped in a region before.

We do not accept payment for placement in our directory or editorial content. Campground listings are included based on data availability and camper relevance, not advertising relationships.
